Preparing Skin for Applying Makeup for an Alicia Keys Look

Before we start with the foundation and the color, you want to make sure you prep your skin very well before this look. There's going to be a lot of makeup on the face, so you want to make sure you cleanse the skin very well and you moisturize very well. She just cleansed her skin with cleanser and water and got all the makeup off that she had on. Now, we're going to really moisturize well. If you have oily skin, you don't have to use as much moisturizer, or you can use a matifying moisturizer. If you have dry skin, you really want to pile on the moisturizer because there's going to be a lot of makeup on the face. You just want your skin to look nice and soft and smooth. Makeup can be very drying, especially a lot of powders. Since we're using a lot of powders and rich pigments around the eye area, we're going to really moisturize well. Don't also forget the neck. People tend to forge the neck. The neck is an important part of your face. You want that to look just as smooth and pretty as your face does. Just blend everything in. If you're at home doing this on yourself, you can use your fingers. Just make sure your hands are really clean so not to spread bacteria to your face. Just make sure you blend really well around the face. Make sure that moisturizer soaks right in. I like to use an eye cream. It's up to you.
