How to Keep Dogs Calm for Massages

Hi, my name is Mary and I'm with expertvillage.com and today we're going to talk about the basic rules of massaging an animal. Rules you say? What kind of rules can there be to massaging an animal? Well, the first one is you have to be in the right time and space for this. An animal cannot be massaged when there is all sorts of activity going on around it. You need a place that's calm, you can put on calming music if you want, that's good for both you and the animal. You need to have no distractions, don't give it treats, don't have a bone or its favorite toys nearby. Keep it calm, cool and collected and ask permission. I'm sure you're like going, ask permission of my pet? Yes, ask permission of your pet and the way you do that is very simple. You just kind of look it in the eye, hey Keeta, do you want a massage? If your dog or your cat and we're talking mostly about dogs, doesn't pull away, doesn't try to run to the corner, doesn't growl or act weird, then you know that it's okay for you to do this massage. And that is very very important.
