How to Do Wheelchair Trick Practice Routines

KEVIN BARRETT: Okay, now, you're up and rolling, okay? Now, in order to become an expert at a wheelchair, I got a little routine for you to do. You know the spinning, you know that you're going forward and backwards and doing the wheelie and everything, but in order to become an expert at this, you really need to practice. Practice, practice, practice makes perfect, alright? So what you're going to want to do is I do this every day. I do 20 rotations one way so we're going to do a right-handed rotation, okay? Now, the rotation isn't finished until you get back to the center so you have to do a complete 360 degree, alright? I do 20 of those at once, so you got to count them out as you're going. This is an expert step right here because it's not easy to do, and you are going to get very dizzy doing this that's why I only recommend doing 20 of these rotations at once, and then, when you're done with that, unspin your brain and do the other side. Now, without doing these, you're really going to not get the full effect of riding this wheelchair because once you actually get that, you're going to be able to go quicker, faster. You're going to actually build up a lot more arm muscle and arm muscle is very important because this is all an upper body sport, okay? Your legs have nothing to do with it when you're actually up and riding the wheelchair. So, remember, 20 rotations right, 20 rotations left, that is a good starting for being a wheelchair expert. MAN: Scene 28, two, one. KEVIN BARRETT: Okay, now you're up and spinning, alright? Now, the hardest part here is actually training yourself to become an expert. A lot of times people get up and they're like, "Okay, I know it. I'm good. I'm going to do more dangerous stuff." You know what though, what I do everyday when I'm riding this thing is I do the 20-20. That's why I do 20 rotations right and I do 20 rotations left. I'm going to show you what I mean, alright? What I do is I start doing my spin and I go completely around 360 degrees. Now, once I'm back to center, that's one rotation, okay? So, I'm going to do 20 of these, and you're going to start getting faster and faster and faster, and it's going to make you really, really dizzy. So, I only recommend you do these 20 times one way and then, that's right, 20 times the other way, okay? Take it slow at first because it is going to make you really dizzy and you are going to fall if you do it too much, which is kind of fun sometimes. Actually, in the amusement park, we used to see how many times we can go around the circle at once and how fast we could do it, and then you'd see us sliding across the room because we totally wiped out but it is a lot of fun, and you will become an expert if you just stick to these simple steps of going in a circle 20 times one way, 20 times the other way. If you want to do it again, please, by all means. Let's go on to the next step.
