Utilize Various Hand Appliqué Techniques When Quilting

JEANETTE WHITE: Hi. I'm Jeanette White for Expert Village and Piper's Quilts & Comforts is located in Sugarhouse, Salt Lake City, Utah. Today, we're going to be talking about hand applique. As you can see this quilt here behind me is a hand-applique quilt. And it's really the thing that we kind of specialize here at Piper's. We also have a wonderful needle-turned machine applique method that's really a good one and works really well. But today, we're going to be talking about hand applique. Hand-applique quilts are always the most beautiful. They're always the most sought after, and it really is a dying art. I'm going to be teaching a method today that is a lot of fun, really easy to learn, and you could master this with just a little bit of practice. As you can see here, we have another one. That's a child's quilt; that's a lot of fun. At the store here, we have this quilted so that you're doing it block by block, and each block has an emphasis on yet another technique. It's a lot of fun. It's really easy to do. And we'd love to have you come and join us for one of our classes. The English method is the method we're going to be talking about today, and it's a real fast one to learn.
