Plank to Locust Pose Yoga Exercise for Seniors

Welcome to Expert Village. This is Fran Dukehart. In this segment we are going to explore moving from plank pose into the locus position. I would like the first think about the energy that we are exciting into the body. First of all, we have energy that moves down in through the arms, through the hands; they are wide spread. The energy is also moving from the center to the legs, and also from the center to the crown of the head. So, we have energy moving along the spine, and then after we have established that stability, then we roll onto the ball, let the energy again be continuing to move away from us into our feet, and also into the top of the head, as well as balancing into the earth, feeling our stability with the ball in front of us, we gently roll forward, begin to open and spread our hands, walking forward on to the mat, being in plank position, engaging the navel, reaching inward and outward through the navel, so that I have my hips on the ball, and that gives me the opportunity to lift my legs up, forehead comes down to the mat, forearms are down, and I am extending energy through the legs. A re-breath that we take here is a smooth easy breath in the back of the throat, then we stay here for 3-5 breaths, coming back in to plank, and then gently walking ourselves out of plank position on to our knees and coming up. From my center to your center… Namaste.
