Learn What Tools are Needed to Make Stained Glass

So let's start with going over some of the tools and supplies that we'll need for this project. Let's start with some glass you'll need a glass pieces or a big piece maybe you can cut it down for whatever you want I'm thinking to do something in turquoise and yellow so I have gathered these few pieces and it's nice to have a pallet from which to work so that you can carry it around plastic or glass whatever it makes it much easier. Then we will need a glass cutter here is a glass cutter that can actually hold oil in it but if you don't have that kind of glass cutter then you need to have cutting oil. You need to put the glass cutter in the cutting oil before you make the glass cut. Then we're going to need copper foil which we will wrap the glass in it comes in many sizes this is probably the most common size. Then we will need flux that we brush onto the copper foil so that the solder will hold the copper foil together that is our skeleton. Then we will need solder 60/40 or 50/50, 60/40 is the most common for this type of soldering. You cannot get it at the hardware store most of these things you can only get at the stained glass store and you will need a soldering iron and it is vary nice to have a rheostat to go with it this keeps the temperature of the soldering iron even otherwise soldering irons tend to heat up and you have to let them rest every twenty minutes or so and I think that's it for the supplies.
