Watercolor Painting Color Values

JOHN R. JUNGER: Well, now, you see the hair is not a good shape, is it? So, I'm going to use a background color to shape the hair. So, I'm going to use a dark color, and I'm going to shape that hair better than it's been shaped before. Now, as you can see, the important thing about this picture now is the values. In other words, I have real dark, I have a dark mid-tone, and I have a light mid-tone, and down here, I have white. And I'm not going to leave it like this because it's no fun. So instead of just doing white, what I'm going to do is give her a shirt of some kind. And the shirt is still too empty, so what I will do is pattern that shirt.
