How to Organize Video Clips for Editing

Hi, this is Glen Cornish and welcome back. We're now dumping video into the computer. We need to talk about organizing your clips because now we're getting away from so much the physical holding your a camera and shooting to the virtual world. You have to be fairly organized in digital video. Nothing like web design however. You still have to be fairly organized. That means organizing your clips. Essentially, once you start importing your clips, in this program, I Movie, you can see there's a place where the clips are stored. Generally in most programs it's called the bin. Adobe Premier, Final Cut Pro, even Advent all have an area where your clips hang out. Organize those clips so you can get them easy. In those other programs they have folders where you can put clips in. Audio clips, graphics, all those kind of things that make your life easier. Once your clips are organized, you can then bring them down into what the area is called the time line. The time line is really where you start to tell your story. That's really the area where you do all the nitty gritty editing and make transitions. From here, now your creative powers are released because all you have to do is organize and and tell the story that you set up through your story board and or script. When we come back, the next thing we're going to talk about are graphics and titles and basically how to prepare that to make your video stand out.
