Preparing Skin for Dramatic Makeup

Before we start applying the makeup, you want to make sure that your face is cleansed and moisturized. The first step to any makeup application is prep your skin. I'm going to use a makeup remover wipe. You can clean your face in the sink, in the shower, however you like to. If you don't have water available, use a makeup wipe, use a baby wipe. Make sure your face is completely clean. No makeup residue, especially around the eye area. Look up for me. Once your face is completely clean, you want to moisturize. This look is neither dewy nor matte, so you can use any moisturizer that you like that's good for your skin type. You don't have to avoid anything for this look. This looks is mostly about the lips, the eyes, and the colors rather than the skin. For any makeup application, you want to make sure that your skin looks nice and supple, smooth, and everything is blended. Especially in the winter months, you want to make sure you moisturize because there's nothing worse than dry flaky skin. If you're really oily, you always want to make sure that you use some sort of matifyer or oil-free moisturizer so that your skin doesn't get too shiny. I always like using a little bit of an eye cream. When you're using a lot of makeup, especially in your eye area. It tends to seep into the wrinkles. The eye cream will definitely help with keeping your eyes looking smooth. Lastly, lip conditioner, especially if you're using a lot of lip products and gloss, your lips are going to tend to get dried out. Before you start your makeup, just put on a little lip conditioner. By the time you are ready to do your lips, it'll be all soaked into your lips and your lips will be nice and soft. Now we're ready to start foundation.
