Hi, this is Shanis Windland on behalf of Expert Village. In our video series on preparing your own baby food. Today we are going to talk about making certain types of fruits and berries for your baby. Making fruit is really easy. We essentially make it just like we do vegetables. You need a steamer, put that in our pot. And I buy these nice little plastic boxes of different kinds of berries and put them in the steamer, add water and put them on the stove. I've already washed these berries, so we just add them to the stove. And if you want to get creative, you can add strawberries, you can add blueberries, just make sure that you cut the tops off of the strawberries and that you wash your blueberries and strawberries really well. You can also make those one at a time or add different kinds together for your baby. So we take this and add water to the pot. And again we just need enough water to cover the bottom of the pot for steaming so that we don't burn the pot. We add it to the stove and turn it on and get it to boil. Again, these are really soft berries so it should only take a minute to get it boiled up. So it looks like our berries are nice and steamed here. I can feel that they are really nice and soft, so we are going to go ahead and take those off the stove. Again all we need to do is add those into our food processor or blender. Then a little bit of the good water that we cooked the berries in. Now when cooking berries, I don't want to add too much water because they already have a lot of water in the berries themselves. You don't want it to be too thin, but if it does come out thin; you can always add some baby cereal to the fruit.
