How to Paint the Back of a Food Tray

DAVID CLEMEN: Hi, I'm David Clemen on behalf of Expert Village. And today, we are going to paint a wooden food tray. All right, welcome back. Okay, so we've got the inside painted, we've got the insides painted. And now you'll see why we didn't paint the top and that is because I want to paint the back and the sides. So if I don't paint that top, there's nothing to get on my table yet. So now, what we can do, if you want to do--you can do it as many different colors as you want or you can choose a solid color. What I'm going to do actually is I'm going to just take a few--let me see here--okay, I'm going to paint--actually I'm just going to paint the sides for purposes of flipping it back over to show you painting in the top because if I paint the bottom right now, you're gonna--I wouldn't be able to flip it back over. But the process, basically that's what you want to do. You want to flip it over, you can paint the sides and the back, let it dry and then you can flip it back over, but for these purposes, I'm just going to paint the sides. So once I get it here, I'm just going to take, you know, a blue color and I'm just gonna, you know, on this one, I might actually just do really simple stripes down the sides, you know, and you can do dots in between. But you can do any design you want on the side, and you can do any design you want anywhere on the tray and you can make it solid. But I also like to leave some of the wood exposed because I think it looks really nice just this raw balsa wood that's been sanded. So, you know, you can do bold stripes then you can come back in with black and you can do little designs here. Or if you want to stick with the theme, you can go in and you can, you know, you can do your citrusy colors with blue and black and then you can kind of do different things like this, but that is painting the sides. All right.
