How to Paint the Bottom of a Food Tray

DAVID CLEMEN: Hi, I'm David Clemen on behalf of Expert Village. And today, we are going to paint a wooden food tray. All right, now I've got my main object in here painted and kind of laid out, I'm going to go ahead and fill in the background of this tray. And since it's for food and it's fruit, I'm going to go with some citrusy colors, and it's kind of take some of these colors that I have mixed around. And I'm just going to really loosely fill this in, you know. And then once I get that area, I'll just take some of this orange and just kind of come in here. And I probably should have gone orange over here, and done a lighter--a different color there, but that's all right. So--and then I can blend white with some blue. Okay. I'm just going to come up to the edges of the fruit because I want the fruit to be really the main subject of this tray. And this is just kinda like a really loose and colorful background for this tray. Mix some of those dark blue, and mix it with white and some green. And I'm going to come back behind the oranges and change that up because I don't want the oranges to get lost. So I'll change that up and give it some depth. Come on and pull that out, white will--the white will help the green blend into the blue and vice versa, and then just fill in these little areas where the wood is showing. And then come around and catch the edges of the bananas, and then maybe I'll use some more blue and orange over here. And I'm going to actually use this color to come in and give some shape to the bananas because I believe originally I've drawn four. And I'm just kinda pull those out and you give them a little bit of depth. And that is painting the bottom of the tray.
