Taking Apart Windshield Washer Reservoir

Hi, my name is Nathan McCullough on behalf of Expert Village. In these clips we're going to talk about some of the possible problems with your windshield washer system and some hints and tips to get better performance out of it. In this clip we're going to talk about disassembly of the washer solvent reservoir. They normally have a press fit like, let me show you here. What it has is a gasket or a grommet on the reservoir right there. 90% of pumps out there do not have many actual mounting bolted. It's held in by the tension between the gasket and the ribs on the nipple. Removal of the lever sensor is pretty much the same method. You just pop it right out, you see it has another grommet as well. Common failures with your level sensor; if you notice that your washer solvent is full, if you just tap it off and the light is on still indicating that it's low, your level sensor is bad and will require replacement. The new one will slide right into the grommet just like so. You're always going to insert the grommet first and then insert your washer solvent level sensor or pumping motor.
