Selecting Paper For an Origami Orchid

I'm going to show you how to fold and origami golden slipper orchid. This is a very beautiful flower. It's a very beautiful origami piece when you get it done. What we're going to do here is we're going to start with our square piece of paper. Of course, this isn't really origami stock. This is really thick stuff, but it's really big so I can show you what to do here. We're going to go ahead and make a flower base. Pull this down this way here. Pull those points together. What I'll usually do is rub my finger from the point all the way to the back and get this started here. Come over here to this corner. Work our corners in. You've got to get this right. You don't want to have it everywhere. Score it with my fingernails like so. There we go. There's our triangle. Before we can get to the flower base, we've got to go to the very preliminary base, which is going to be our flower base. Go ahead and fold that triangle like that. We'll finish up our flower base in the next piece.
