Hi, my name is Dalton and I play the Bass. Today I’m going to show you how to stretch the strings out before you tune it. We just now put our strings on, fresh new strings, and they’re really stretchy and like to get out of tune really fast. So before we tune it we’re just gonna take it, grab it and stretch it. You can even pick it up and shake it. Just yank on it as much as you can. It’s good to do it for like one minute to two minutes with each string. Just go through them all. I like to take out my frustrations on it. Really all you have to do is stretch it and make sure they don’t get out of tune when you’re playing. Before you tune your bass if you go through a process of stretching, tuning, stretching, tuning, then you’ll be able to play a good 12 song set without your bass going out of tune. Good stretching makes good bass.
Do not do this to your strings!! The only thing you'll achieve is ruining your them. You're actually pulling the strings windings apart. The guy in the video is showing his ignorance by doing this. First tune your new strings to pitch. Then stretch them about one inch. Retune. Then let the strings set over night and you're fine.
