Hi, I'm Ann Kennedy on behalf of Expert Village and we'll be looking at correcting common problems in children. What young readers need to know. Summeries; I like make little books out of 2 pieces of paper that I stapled and we might have finished reading Little Red Hen and I may ask, who were the characters? Well there was a goose and I'll write the word for them. A cat and a dog and then I'll print characters. You just told me all the characters, did you forget any though? Oh, there was a hen. The children have just learned the basis of writing and in stories they've learned characters. Can you draw me some of the characters? And let's say they go ahead and they draw some up here. Now where did the story take place? What was the setting? I'll write the word and they'll say there's fields and they may draw some fields and some pretty green fields and draw a little house and then I'll write the word and say this was the setting. Let's turn the page. Was there a problem in the story? Yeah, little red hen was so nice but nobody would do anything for her. Oh, so let's try to write that together. No one would help the little red hen. This was the problem and child draws the problem. What was the solution? What do you think the solution is? The child would draw what the solution was, that she got to eat all the corn herself because nobody would help. A young reader needs to know at least what a title is, what characters are, to point them out, that's why these little made books that you can do together with your child helps. What the setting is, where it takes place if you remember in the made book we pointed out the 4 seasons. Is there a problem?
