How to Use Blinking in iStopMotion
iStopMotion is a registered trademark of Boinx software, and I am in no way affiliated with Boinx software. In this tutorial, I'm going to teach you about what's called blinking in iStopMotion. Blinking is kind of an alternative to onion skinning. If you come over to blinking. If you don't see these options, make sure that view is selected at the bottom right, but bring down the blinking options. If you click this checked box right here, that's going to turn blinking on. I'm going to go ahead and take a snap shot of my preview. As you can see, nothing is going on here, but at the top left, there is a dot that's blinking. If you don't see that blinking dot, you can click the mark source image check box. You're going to see nothing is going on here until you move your object. What's going on is it's switching between the last clip and your live preview. When you see the red dot at the top left, that's going to be your live preview. When it's off, that's the last frame. This kind of helps you visualize your animation a little better. You can also use this in conjunction with onion skinning. You can turn on onion skinning as well and really fine tune your animation this way. That's how you use blinking.
