How to Cut Small Glass Pieces for Stained-Glass Projects

So as you can see I have continued this, making more pieces. I've got those first two blue pieces you saw me make. I've got them together with their pieces in the pattern. I've already made some of these clear ones. I'll show you how I did it. Same thing. Here is a piece of the clear glass. I'll just make another one of these number elevens here. So, I'm just going to try and find a way to be economical with your glass. Looks like I can maybe cut one of these elevens, one of these triangles, maybe out of this corner here. So, I'm just going to line my little piece up right there and take my Sharpie and draw a line there. And because every time you draw a line, it's actually outside of the line that you really want. When I score it I'm going to score inside that line a little bit. So, here is my glass cutter. Again, you hold it perpendicular. Try and do it in one movement, don't have to go fast but let's see if we hear the sound. There we go. Then we've got our score, hold our breaking pliers, and just in one swift movement, nice clean break. And, there we go. This is an extra because I had already cut that piece. You will find that cutting the straight pieces is a lot easier with that method. Cutting curves is a little bit more difficult. If you remember this piece of green glass, this scrap, already had sort of a curve in it that I was able to cut one of my pieces out of. There it was. What I basically did was I cut this. So, remember, this is the piece I need. So I can't just cut a right angle there so I first had to cut this piece off, which I did once again with the cutter and breakers. That curve was pretty close to the curve I already needed for my pattern. So, I just went ahead and used it and then scored one more line, broke it this way and now I have that. But, I'm in a little bit of a bind because I have to cut three more curved pieces like that. My piece number two, thirteen and fourteen here. And so that is what I will show you next, how to do that.
