Hey! I am Mark Black and welcome to expertvillage.com and we are going to be talking about advanced theory in song writing. These are languages; that chord I just played that 9, 6 chord but you cannot play that in a country song in a bar, you know. I mean it is not the bar people going to kick you out; it is just you cannot sing I love my baby… I love my baby, do not you know, it does not fit, it is too intricate are too pretty of language to fit with a lot of it is not just country songs, would not work in country styles, would work in a metal style, so I am just emphasizing this thing about the language. That as we get more complicated with the sound we also may lose some of the audience so to speak. Our audience says wait a minute, wait a minute, this is as far as I want to go, majors in major 7 that is actually your minors in minor 7, you know things like that. So remember this idea of music as a language.
