Chords & Mood: Advanced Music Theory & Songwriting
Hey! I am Mark Black and welcome to expertvillage.com and we are going to be talking about advanced theory in song writing. Another way that the chord can affect the mood is not the note you change it is the position of the chord; that is the chord relative to other chord. Here is our C chord; it sounds just as normal as white sliced bread…C chord, but if you put it in a song in the key of D, here is the song in key of D, now I tell you when our C chord comes up, aah... that is a C chord… so our C chord are normal C chord that was completely normal sound and in this song… sing on the C sound because it is not a part of the note of the key of D stands out and key of C is the normal sound, and the key of D is an abnormal sound. So that is two ways that we can create unusual or different sounds and one is by changing the chord and adding 7… adding that and in another way is by putting that chord in the key where it does not belong, only creating unusual.
