Combining Harmony & Lyrics: Advanced Music Theory & Songwriting

Hey! I am Mark Black and welcome to expertvillage.com and we are going to be talking about advanced theory in song writing. Okay, now we are talking about the harmony and the first thing I want to say is that the chords are language and they communicate. When you listen to this sound and I am playing piano right now, but you listen to this sound, you say... you would not think that would go you know… I hate you and you hate me, and life really stinks, I don’t like you much. You can hear my words; those words do not fit those chord, so the point is that neither with these chords work; joy and happiness that is my soul, I am happy today, because you and fit; they do not fit and the only reason I am trying to make a point is that the chords are another language, we got the melody, I will sing… we got the lyrics, the words sing. Those sings have to agree with the language of my chords; my chords in the first one, were happy, my chords in the second one we are sad and only thing that I am trying to present to you is that you got to think somewhat do my words and lyric fit the chords that I am playing and that just means that you start thinking about those things.
