MATT GRAHAM: Now that you've removed all the strings from the guitar, this is a premium time to clean your guitar. A lot of the time, dust will accumulate here under the strings right by the bridge and also under the strings up by the headstock. So what I'll do is just take a clean cloth that's soft and not going to be abrasive to the finish of your guitar and just give it a good wipe down to clear all the dust out. You can also wipe the frets down and then just wipe the dust off of the headstock where those strings were covering it up. Then you can also take a Q-tip or a cotton swab and come back down to the bridge and I just like to go along this edge of the bridge, all the edges of it. And it's just a good way to pick up any dust that maybe there accumulating on your finish. Again, not a step that's necessary to restringing your guitar but this is the best time that you have to clean your guitar while it's not obstructed by the strings.
