Consonants & Movement: Advanced Music Theory & Songwriting

Hey! I am Mark Black and welcome to expertvillage.com and we are going to be talking about advanced theory in song writing. If I go to the third we love, that sounds very consonant and I go to the fifth, I love you; it sounded like the Andrew Sisters but my point is that that is a very consonant solid sound. As you move over, I. that’s the two, you can feel that note, it sounds okay, aah.... but it wants to fall, and wants to move. This is the first of these notes that we have gotten over that, there is a tension there. Aah... ha... 2, 1… or 2, 3, want to move somewhere and our 6 aah.... there is the 6 aah. Again a note that wants to move aah...aah... aah.. aah...aah... the 6 wants to move but it is still, there is the sound I played again in the piano… as a melody that is moving now we get very solidly strong and normal sounds 1, 3 5. Now we got some sounds, they fit, but they do want to move. Now if I do the 4, aah... definite tension, definite, got to move, now do I have to, no. I can have a song but if I keep this, I am going you know … that is 4 and I am doing creates tension. I do resolve in the end, but that is I did not intentionally do that, but that is what it naturally would want to do.
