Hey! I am Mark Black and welcome to expertvillage.com and we are going to be talking about advanced theory in song writing. After you try things you need to step back and go, what do I think about that? Did that do what I wanted, you know? When you are learning you tend to do the new thing. You heard this cool album, somebody told this thing, you go and do it, and you do it to death trying to figure out… because it is cool but what you really need to be able to do is to try the new things that you do and then step back and say not the song as your baby that you have worked with for six months, but the song as… if I had heard the song in radio, I got 30 seconds to prove this song. You know people are going to like it or reject it in 30 seconds. So as you try the different things you put in the song, you step back and go would I buy this album would I keep the radio on if I heard this and that helps you make you decisions on things.
