How Diet Affects Fatigue

DR. SUSAN JEWELL: Hello. My name is Dr. Susan Jewell, and on behalf of Expert Village today, I'm going to talk to you about how to treat fatigue. Now, fatigue strikes every one of us, and sometimes it could be a chronic condition. So, there are certain ways that you could try, you could use to alleviate or prevent fatigue, and that one thing is diet and exercise. Now, one thing you could do is to start off the morning with a nice healthy, hearty breakfast. And to make a component of a very healthy breakfast in the morning so they can keep your energy up to last you throughout the day is three components of a healthy breakfast is carbohydrates, some proteins and fats, although you can reduce the amount of intake of fats because you'll find that in some natural, like the margarine and stuff, so you don't need to have a high amount of fat. But things like cereal and milk and toast, muffins and eggs, if you're going to use eggs, it's good to use the albumin where you could buy where it's just the egg whites, and that's a healthy way 'cause there's a lot of cholesterol in the yolk and low fat yogurt as well. These are good ways that you start off that has a lot of-- to give you a lot of high energy so that you don't feel fatigue and they will help you last throughout the day at least through lunch time, and avoid in the morning sugars, like going for your doughnuts and caffeine and all that because the doughnuts will give you a sugar rush where after which, you'll have like a rebound effect and then you're going to get really, really, really fatigued. So, this is a way to start off a day really healthy. Here are some samples of products that you can buy. Of course, it's good to eat cereal in the morning and to get your fiber as well intake, and to get to eat plain or even add fresh fruits to your yogurt. Get eggs but make sure, if you can afford it, it's better to get organic free eggs, a lot healthier or like I said if you can get the Egg Beaters where it's just albumin, the pure protein that you can buy ready in the stores and the groceries, that's even better. Start off with fruit juices; that would be a good thing because that would also be a good starter through the today. And if you're going to use milk and drink milk, it's good to get organic rice milk or soya milk that's readily available in the stores. So, this is a healthy way to approach how to reduce the effect of a symptom of fatigue.
