How to Play Major & Minor Sax Scales
For expertvillage.com this is Mitch Kaplan. In this segment we are going to talk about scales and why they are important. Scales are very important because it gives you the expertise on how to play different classical or jazz music. It provides you with a better sound in the upper notes and gets you more familiar with all the notes that in possibilities you can use. The first scale I am going to play is called the major scale. We will start off with that because most books, most method books start off with that one. That was the G-major scale. Now the next particular scale, we will talk about is the natural minor. The next scale is the natural minor and we will be using just a down and a minor third. It sounds more melancholy and sadder. The harmonic minor is raised seventh, so you would rise to seventh step, going up and going down; sounds similar to this. Again there is that Egyptian type of sound.
