Winter Kits for Cars

NATHAN MCCULLOUGH: Hi. My name is Nathan McCullough, on behalf of Expert Village. In these clips, we're going to talk about some of the tips and tricks in order to properly winterize your vehicle. In this clip, we're going to talk about a couple of the things that will bail you out in the winter time if you happen to be stranded. What I have here on my legs, a pair of gloves. A lot of people don't take them with them when they drive. They don't wear driving gloves. In the winter time, you're going to want to make yourself a little kit, an emergency kit. Inside that kit have a pair gloves, a winter hat, some jumper cables, in case your battery cold cranking amps aren't enough to get your vehicle started. You're also going to want to have--and this is truly up to you, you can buy them in the hunting section of any of your local stores, some hand warmers. You can have a pair of boots that you might want to keep inside there if you have your family and you get stranded. You're going to want to up-dress. Make sure you to have a jacket, a blanket and, of course, a cellphone. It's not a good idea to have a cellphone tossed in your trunk. If it gets extremely cold outside, even though the battery is fully charged, it may freeze and not function for you in dire need. Those are couple of things you're going to want to keep with you. You can also have traffic cones. They come in an emergency kit from like Myer or Wal-Mart, stores of that nature. They also have flares. Those are, like I said, a few of the things you may want to have with you in case of emergency. It's better off to buy them and have them, and never use them, than to need them and not have them.
