Saxophone Assembly

For expertvillage.com this is Mitch Kaplan. In this clip we will be talking about putting the saxophone together. First we must know the parts. Of course, we have the bell which produces the sound and amplifies it, makes it louder, and then we have the body, which contains all the different keys that you would press to change the sound. The next thing that we would need is the neck of the saxophone. The neck of the saxophone is primarily just contains the one octave key. This goes up and makes the notes higher and changes the amplitude of the sound waves. Now what is important is that you should take a tissue before you put this on and go on the outside; and this is important to go on the outside and just rub off the excess material that is on the outside of the neck. Then you would take that same tissue and go on the inside with your finger and go around it; and again you would be getting much of the stuff that would prevent the neck from going on easily. Many beginners struggle to put the saxophone neck on because of the build up that happens there. Then you would tighten the neck screw, and with the cork right here you would push the mouthpiece on to the neck, twisting it ever so gently; and that is how to put a saxophone together.
