Hi, I'm Candi Cane Canncel with Expert Village. You just want to manually line it up because if you start sewing automatically there is a really good potential that it's not lined up and you're going to pop your needle. So line it up and just do it manually just a couple of times and then you are ready to sew. It just needs about either eight or nine back and forth motions. Go ahead and pull it out and in this case this button has four holes so we are going to have to do the same exact thing but only on the bottom hole. So again you just want to line it up and in this case it's a little tight so we're going to move a little bit to the left. So I'm going to go ahead and sew. If you are uncomfortable in this step sewing you can just do it manually it wouldn't take that much for you to do that with the wheel of the machine. Once you have it sewn just go ahead and take off the tape you really don't want to use this tape trick if you are using really nice buttons. Say mother of pearl or bone or even vintage but for something like this that is inexpensive. Now that you have your buttonholes sewn on you just want to take your little extra pieces of thread and tie them in a knot to secure it. Again if you feel more comfortable you can put a little dab of hot glue just to keep these on. But if you tie a couple of knots it should just be sufficient. Then you trim down as close as you can to the bottom, do the same thing to the back. The back you have a little bit more leeway because people are not going to see that. So you can just take all of the pieces of thread and tie them into one big knot. You just want to trim all the extra and wah lah, you have a secure button sewn onto your garment.
