Learn the Appropriate Attire for the Industry of the Job Interview
I'm Don Varney of Varney Speaks and on behalf of Expert Village. Today we're going to talk about the interview process. We've kind of talked about just the basics of the interview. Let's talk about a couple things that sometimes people struggle with. One is that your attire; your clothing for the interview. Everybody mentally sees themselves in a suit in tie for an interview, but the reality of it is, depending on the job that you're going for, that suit and tie may not be appropriate for the interview. There are jobs out there that when you go to them for the interview, you might wear blue jeans, a nice shirt, a pair of cowboys boots, and a ball cap to the interview. That might just be the perfect outfit for that job, especially if you're talking to them about I'm a ranch hand, I'm a carpenter, or I'm a plumber and this is what I do. I'm a licensed master carpenter. If you walked in in a suit, it wouldn't fit. My thinking is you have to know the industry, but then you always want to be just one step up.
