How to Make a Collage Bookmark

Hi, my name is Lanie Evans and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you how to make a simple collage bookmark. Take a look. I'm going to start out my collage with a form cardstock, something that is going to be thick enough to serve as your bookmark base. I have all these old paint samples. I'm going to create a pattern on a bookmark just out of these colors and I think I'm going to choose the greens first to layer those down. Start by using a simple stripe pattern. I'm going to start the bookmark by making a stripe pattern. So now I have the base completed and let it dry and then once it's dried I'm going to turn it over, and actually cut off all the extras. So here is the stripes pattern that I've made. I'm going to go and look through an old book and see if I can find some interesting words to kind of glue onto the top. Instead of a word, I actually found an image that I thought was really interesting. It's a photograph of a crane eating a frog. I thought that would be great for the colors, the green color scheme. Glue it on about there. Now you can do it this way or you can do it sideways, but since you often look at a bookmark vertically, I'm going to glue it on vertically as well. And then also turn it over and trim off the excess. This is going to be my finished product, but another idea you could do is take a hole puncher and punch a hole here and then add some string or yarn to the bookmark.
