How to Score Points with Defense in American Football

The others ways in which you can score are defensively. Defensively, if the ball is intercepted in which case the offensive quarterback throws the ball to the defensive player, the defensive player can then run the into the end zone, which results in a six point play. Again you can opt for either a PAT, which is one point or the two point option, which is two points. Also a fumble recovery, a fumble is when the ball is knocked out of an offensive and/or defensive players hand while they have possession of it, in which case the opposing team picks up the ball and runs the ball into the end zone that would be a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Again a six point play and again you have the option of taking a PAT one point or two point play for the two point conversion. The final basic type of scoring is done on special teams. At the beginning of a game or after every score the opposing team that scored will kick the ball off to the team that did not score. We have something called a kick return or punt return and if those gentleman in those skilled positions catch the ball and run the ball into the opponents the kicking opponents end zone that would result in a touchdown that would be again a six point play and again we would have either the choice of a one point PAT or a two point PAT. The final type of score is by utilizing what is a defensive play to get a safety. The safety is where the offensive possessing team is sacked or tackled in the end zone that result in a two point play and loss of possession in which case the offensive team that was sacked or tackled in the end zone would give away two points to the opponent and they would also have to punt the ball back to the opponent and those are the main ways that you can score in beginning football.
