How to Utilize Watercolors in Stamping

The next technique we're going to talk about is called water coloring. This is again one of my favorites because you get to be creative. That's a part of stamping that I really like. To get started, what I'm going to need is I just chose a stamp. I have some water color paper and I have some stays on ink. The reason I'm using stays on ink is because it doesn't bleed. When I'm using my watercolors, they won't blend and make a mess on my paper. The first thing I'm going to do is just go ahead and stamp. I have a little I love you. I'm sorry. It says olive you. It's an olive. There's a couple mediums you can use here. You can use a paintbrush. You can use this watercolor pen that I'm going to show you with, and also a blender pen to do this watercoloring. The first thing that I'm going to do is just squeeze this stamp pad a little bit. What that's going to do is it's going to put a little ink into the bottom here. That's the well that I'm going pull from. This watercolor pen has a little bit of water in it. I'm just going to kind of prime it a little by squeezing it to make sure that I have water coming out and I do. Now what I'm going to do is just dip the tip of this into the ink and I'm going to start painting. Painting like you would if you were using a regular paintbrush. You can add as a little or as much color as you like here. The water will saturate it and make it really, really pretty. Again, the more water you use, the less color you're going to have. To use it with a blender pen, you're going to do the same thing. A little ink well in your pad, take your blender pen, pick up a little bit of the ink. This is kind of like a marker tip, so some people find this a little bit easier to use. There you have it, a beautiful watercolor olive you. I'll hope you'll try watercoloring. It's a lot of fun.
