Hi, this is Mara Keith-Hunter for Expert Village. Today we would be talking about how to groom a horse. So the next thing we are going to do is brush the forelock and the mane. Now when you are brushing the forelock and the mane, you don't really have to worry about pulling hairs out. As usual we want to thin the forelock for braiding purposes when we go to shows. So I'm just going to use a very basic brush. Now you do want to be careful not to surprise the horse as you come up to their heads they are a little shy. You are just going to work your way up and then just a basic brushing motion. Good! Then for the mane, some horses mane can get kind of scraggly on both sides of the neck. You do want the mane to be on the right side of the neck. His is pretty well trained. If it is not, you can wet your brush first and then once again, just a basic brushing motion. Being a little careful as you go up towards their heads some horses can be a little bit shy.
