CHRIS MURPHY: Hi. On behalf of Expert Village, this is Chris Murphy. I'm here at the New York Comedy Club in New York City. Today we're going to talk about how to have a career in comedy. Managers and agents--what you've been waiting for, alright? Okay. Well, this is actually another reason why you should become a city comic in the beginning because a manager or an agent is not going to hop on a car and watch you on a road gig. It's very rare. They come to the city, to the city showcases. Now, all those years, the open mics and the pre-shows that--one club, remember one club, the contacts you made, what happens usually is a manager or owner will whisper something to the agent's ear something nice about you 'cause he knows you made a lot of money over the years and the other comics walking around who have been on television several times usually in the city, they'll say something nice 'cause you already hooked them up or you've become their friend, some remained in the city for the first five years. So, that's what you do. You have a big showcase in front of a manager and an agent and now when you're ready, they'll come in and they'll watch you. You'll have a great set, 'cause you'll bring a lot of people, and you'll have a wonderful show. And you'll probably get a manager or an agent just like that.
