CHRIS MURPHY: Hi. On behalf of Expert Village, this is Chris Murphy. I'm here at the New York Comedy Club in New York City. Today we're going to talk about how to have a career in comedy. Okay. Now, this is getting paid to work networking, alright? Now, your act is going to get you rebooked, that's more important. Networking will get you booked once, but you don't want to be one of those comics who works everywhere once. So, make sure your act is done first. Now, networking, how do you do this? Well, if you have a car, it's beautiful then. Then you can call up different comics and barter your services. I'll drive you to the gigs if I get a non-paid guest spot, five minutes. And then once you do a number of those, you call the booker up and say, "Hey, how'd you like my work? Can I emcee for you?" and get paid. So, that's an outstanding way to network if you have a car. Also, create your own room. If you create your own room, during the week, an outstanding comic wants to come by and work on new stuff, you'll go, "Hey, give me some recommendation and I'll get you some work here." So do a little barter system. That's just two ways of getting yourself up on the stage in networking. Okay?
