CHRIS MURPHY: Hi. On behalf of Expert Village, this is Chris Murphy. I'm here at the New York Comedy Club in New York City. Today we're going to talk about how to have a career in comedy. Okay, this is the comedy bar. This is where all the action takes place, all right? This is where you're going to get a lot of your work, okay? As a comic, keep your eyes and ears open. Make sure you listen more than you talk, two ears one mouth. Listen to some more experienced comics, ask some questions about work and stuff like that. Listen to their horror stories. They can tell you some great, great stuff about which bookers to avoid, which clubs to avoid; you'll learn a lot at the bar. So, basically, a bar experience is a place to network. That is where you're going to ask a lot of your questions to comics who are a lot more experienced than you are, to get your work, even more than the act sometimes, okay? So really, sit at the bar and listen to the pros, ask them some questions, pick their brains, ask them about the business. That's where you'll learn the business, at the comedy bar.
