CHRIS MURPHY: Hi. On behalf of Expert Village, this is Chris Murphy. I'm here at the New York Comedy Club in New York City. Today we're going to talk about how to have a career in comedy. Okay, this is free shows and how to use them; extremely important. Do not bring all your friends to one show. Let's say if you have twenty friends, don't bring twenty to one show. Bring four friends to five shows. This way you'll gain more experience, okay? And the club owner will love you because you're bringing like--it seems like it's more. You're actually bringing friends many, many times. Also, one club, one club only, do not advertise to five different clubs, "Hey, I'm just starting out. How are you? Here's my friends." First impressions are very important. Bring them to one club, what will happen you'll build a great relationship with that club, and he'll remember in the long run, "Hey, this guy brought me some business. I may take a look at him, maybe make him a regular." But if you advertise to the whole entire world around town that you're starting out, not very good. So, also, once you have more experience, then bring a lot to one show, get a great DVD, put out the bookers.
