How to Divide Up Your Book Collection

Hi! I'm Jennifer Kimball and one behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you how to organize and maintain your book collection. If your books need to be separated because you don't have room for them all in one area, then one thing you might want to consider organizing your books is by the room that they're going to be in. For instance, if you have a guest room, you might want to put some short stories or books that will be great for your guests to pick up that they can read in just an hour or so before bed. Something like that would be great for a guest room. You have bookshelves near your kitchen, it's great to have all your cookbooks in one area. There are various different ways that you can divide this up. If you have a home office, you might want to have your books that are related to your industry or your studies in your home office. Certainly, if you have lots of children's books, you're going to want to have those in accessible place for your children to read on a regular basis. Depending on the size of your home and how much space you have for displaying your books either all in one area or not, a great way to break up your books is dividing it by the room in which they'll be used. Of course, another obvious one is if you have a piano or you play an instrument. Having your music by your instrument or near your piano is another way to kind of break up the books a bit. Depending on how you want to organize your books, dividing subject by room or topic by room is another great way of going.
