How to Organize Your Personal Library

Hi! I'm Jennifer Kimball and one behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you how to organize and maintain your book collection. After you determine the type of shelving that you want to use to display your books, it's important to decide how you're going to organize them. One of the easiest ways by alphabetical. You can do this a couple of different ways, but the first one is just straight alphabetical by author's last name. Quite easy if you have a bunch of books by the same author. Then you have also alphabetize them by the title within the author alphabetization. This works well if you have a majority of books that are similar genres. If most of your books are fiction, this works really great because you're not going to worry about having them in different subject categories. The easiest way to find your book if you know it's going to be fiction is just by the author's last name. If you have a smaller collection, this also works well. You just want to have everything alphabetical by author's last name, and then by the titles within that author's collection.
