How to Prepare to Close on a Home

Hi, I'm John Jackson from Remax Suburban in St. Louis, Missouri. I'm here today to talk about how to buy a house for Expert Village. There are a couple really important things to be done before the closing actually takes place. Just a few housekeeping items. One in particular is to do a final walk through of the property that you're purchasing. The idea of a walk through is not to reinspect it but it's actually just to verify that any repairs that were agreed upon have actually been completed in a workmanlike manner and that they're satisfactory. Secondarily, as you're getting ready for this loan to fund, it's very important to make sure that your portion of the down payment is available from your bank on the particular closing day. That money sometimes can be a gift from a relative or perhaps it's from a savings vehicle like a CD or a 401K. You have to have that money in your account for a satisfactory number of days. It's important to contact your bank in advance and make sure it is indeed available. Well, with the closing behind you, you now have your keys, you've paid your money and you're a homeowner. I hope the information we provided today was helpful. For Expert Village, I'm John Jackson, thanks for watching.
