Drawing Geometric Shapes for a Button

ROBYN LYMAN: Hi, this is Robyn with Expert Village. Next we're going to make this into squares. It will be kinda like an eight-sided star. You've probably seen this in quilting patterns before. This is a pretty simple process to do. We just draw down a straight line on each of these. Now, this drawing starts off simple, but when we're finished it'll look rather complicated. But knowing the basics of this pattern and the skeleton of it, it really is easy to do. I've taught my grandchildren how to do it. I've taught prisoners in the jail how to do it. Before I can even get through with the drawing, they had taken off with it and ran, did all kinds of neat things with it. So now you can see we have our eight-sided star. Okay, you can see our eight-sided star. I'm getting ready to form and put squares on 'em. So, I'm going to square off this star and that's what we're going to do on the next step.
