Placing & Smoothing Short Hair for Curling

Hi my name is Lauren and on behalf of Expert Village I am here to discuss short curly locks with you. Now I did take out those pin curlers and you can see the nice curl that it kind of leaves. It is somewhat of a softer curl and again depending on how tight you want it depends on the diameter. But now lets get back to her updo and we now back comb this and you can see that it is not very smooth and we do want to keep that smooth and created so what you are going to want to do is to take your brush and I do recommend a natural bristle brush which also promotes smoothness and adds shine to the hair. You are going to very softly go over the top layer of the hair. You do not want to brush out all of your tease because that is what is going to really lock that volume in place. However, you do not want it to look as if your hair has been teased. You want it to be smooth to the surface. You are going to brush it back, where you are going to allow it to fall. We are going to give Heather a little bit more volume in this area so I am actually going to brush it in the direction that I know that eventually we will be pinning it. You can go over it as many times as you deem necessary to feel as if it is soft enough for you. I suggest a little bit of spray and just using your hands to get those flyaway?s down. Again do not brush out your back combing or your tease because then your hair will fall flat. You really want it to be in there but you want to create that softness by getting that surface layer as smooth as possible. If you need to replump your tease after you back comb it, simply take the end of your tail comb and lift up and you will see how it goes automatically right back into place.
