Hi, I'm Susan Paxton on behalf of Expert Village. And we're here today and we're going to make a center piece for our dining room table out of fresh flowers. One of the things we need to know ahead of time before start handling fresh flowers is how to take care of them. When we get flowers in at my flower shop, we try to take off all the excess leaves off of the bottom of the stem. So that when we put it in a vase or put into an arrangement like this, there's not so many leaves on it. We also try to trim about three inches off of the flowers the day they come in. And we cut them at an angle so that they will drink the special flower food we place them in. Roses are very delicate, and will not drink unless they are trimmed. The end gets very, seals up very tightly. And they will not drink water unless you cut them and make a fresh cut.
