Hi my name is Lauren and on behalf of Expert Village I am here to discuss short straight hairstyles. A nice easy way to actually get your hair away from your face and to prevent yourself from continuously putting it behind your ears as I have mine is to do some crisscross patterns and this is almost like a basket weave on the top of your head. You can start by separating the front right by the hairline. You can start back as far as you want because you are going to be working your way forward with this. Now I am just doing the front part, I do not want to go beyond the back of her ears. Her ear is right here so I am sticking to the front of her ear so I do not want to go beyond that. I am going to start by taking pieces of hair, some random, I am going to do some triangular patterns and some rectangular patterns, some are going to be thicker and some a little thinner. You can kind of gage it. The important thing is to create that crisscrossed look. I am simply going to pull the hair back, twist it a little bit in order to insert the pin, which you are going to insert going into the twist so that way you do not see it and I am going to grab another piece of hair and I am just going to lay that crisscrossing the first one we did. If you like it a little smoother, you may want to use some product. You may want to use a palm aid. You do not want to do anything too greasy or oily. You just want to get enough to get it smoother. The smoother you can get those pieces before you crisscross them, the nicer it is going to be and the more noticeable your crisscross is going to look. If you feel that spraying can achieve that for you, then you will use spray. If your hair is a little coarser, then you are going to want to use something a little bit heavier in order to achieve that crisscross pattern. Again you are going to twist and insert the bobby pin going into it. Now the more hair that goes in, the more twisting you are going to have and the more of a weave pattern you are going to have. This is just something you can use every day rather than putting your hair into a regular headband and also it is a nice way to get the hair away from your face. That is how you get crisscross patterns on the top.
