Knock Over Turrets with Cubes in Orange Box's Portal

JOHN SEXTON: Hi, I'm John Sexton on behalf of Expert Village. Today, we're going to be learning how to play Portal, a game by Valve Software, a company with which I have no affiliation. So we've got a couple of blocks here, and we can use those to disable these turrets. Now if you look through this window, you see that the walls and floor here are the black material that prevents us from placing a portal but just above the turret is a ceiling that allows portals to be placed. So we can make an entrance here on the wall, pick up a cube and drop that down. Oops, we missed. We can pick up this other one and drop it right on top of that turret, and it'll knock it down and disable it. Now, we can see that the laser sight from the other turret is still there. So if we drop down, it's going to be shooting at us, but we can use the cubes as shields if we drop down and pick one up fast enough. We can dock behind it, and the turret didn't even see me so I'll just pick it up and use it as a shield and go ahead and push the turret over with the block. Now, there are a couple more here in this room and you can do the same thing. Use the block as a shield and knock over the turrets.
