Knocking Over Turrets in Orange Box's Portal

JOHN SEXTON: Hi, I'm John Sexton on behalf of Expert Village. Today, we're going to be learning how to play Portal, a game by Valve Software, a company with which I have no affiliation. Now, we can see that at the end of that corridor, it's just a plain wall, and if I shoot a portal over there, I can put my entrance in here and walk out behind the turret and go ahead and knock it over. Now up here, we've got another turret that is up on a platform. We can do a similar trick where we just put a portal behind it. You could put one anywhere you like in the wall, pick it up, grab it and knock it on over or you can just let it stand so that it doesn't hurt you. Now, we've got a couple of turrets to deal with here pointing at each other across this long corridor, a couple of cubes and some panels that are jutting out through the wall. We can walk behind the panels and see some things that have been left here by previous test subjects in the Aperture Science Center--more inscriptions saying, "The cake is a lie," some hatch marks showing that people have been here for many days, a poster of some cake, a power ball diagram and some other things. This just gives you a little bit more insight into the kind of place that the Aperture Science Center is and maybe it makes you hungry for some more of the mysteries that you might solve at the end of Portal.
