High Velocity Portal Jumping in Orange Box's Portal

JOHN SEXTON: Hi, I'm John Sexton on behalf of Expert Village. Today, we're going to be learning how to play Portal, a game by Valve Software, a company with which I have no affiliation. So this is a challenge where you have to jump in the blue portal, be launched out of the orange one, and in mid-air, you have to shoot yourself a blue portal here. That will let you cycle through and then be launched out of the orange portal again with an even higher velocity that will allow you to get through the force field. It's kinda tricky and even once you figure out what to do, it can be difficult to actually execute it. Now, we're getting into the part of Portal which requires not only logical thinking but also some manual dexterity. So let's see if we can pull it off. We jump through, shoot our portal there, through the orange, and it launched us through, just like that. And you'll notice that the portals are gone now because we had to go through a force field. So that was a pretty tricky one both to figure out and to execute. Let's see what we have here. We have a couple of angled wall segments over there that are bouncing our power ball off of, and we have a receptacle and a power ball dispenser up here.
