Getting Power Balls into Force Fields in Orange Box's Portal

JOHN SEXTON: Hi, I'm John Sexton on behalf of Expert Village. Today, we're going to be learning how to play Portal, a game by Valve Software, a company with which I have no affiliation. This is the second part of the test chamber, and we can see that we have a couple of force fields, a power ball launcher, a power ball receptacle, an elevator here that we need to activate and that's going to lead us to the exit. So the first thing we see is that the power ball will come out of here and hit our black spot. So we'll go ahead and put an entrance portal there 'cause we know we're going to need that. And then here's the receptacle but the problem is if you walk through a force field, it gets rid of your portals. We can put a blue one there and I walk through it and it disappears. So what we need to do is somehow get the power ball itself to come into this area and then to come out of the ceiling, into the receptacle. So what we can do is place an entrance portal here and an exit portal here, and now the ball will bounce this way. It will take the long way around, the blue out the orange and it will go 'cause the ball can go through the force field with no problem. So that's sort of step one.
