Accessing the Companion Cube in Orange Box's Portal

JOHN SEXTON: Hi, I'm John Sexton on behalf of Expert Village. Today, we're going to be learning how to play Portal, a game by Valve Software, a company with which I have no affiliation. We can see that this half of the room is the black wall which does not allow us to stick a portal. So we're going to have to find some way to get over to this block to bring it down. Now, we do have a flat area here that kind of reminds us of the launcher-pad things that we used in the previous portals--previous test chamber. So what we can do is find a way to drop ourselves down and launch ourselves out of that portal. Conveniently, that staircase is collapsed to give us a space to do just that. So if I jump down here, I'll come out of the orange portal and it launches me right on over to the cue. The staircase comes back and I can take this down and put it on the pressure plate. Now, that's going to open this door over here that we can go through. And hopefully, find our power ball. All right? Well, we haven't quite got there yet but we see a series of elevating platforms over a dangerous floor and we can see the power ball is right across the way there. So we just have to be careful and jump over these platforms and then find our way to the power ball.
